The former app from thesightreadinglab.com has been retooled for free use - no login required. This service uses your device's microphone to evaluate sight reading performance from our course library where no recordings are made, and no personal information is ever stored or kept on our servers.

When a student signs a Progress Report, the exercise generates a unique Verification Code. This code contains everything needed to recreate the report, including the exercise name, settings, signature, elapsed time, and score.

Verification codes help prevent cheating. Once a report is signed, the signature cannot be changed unless the score is reset, making it difficult to copy or alter completed reports. The codes are also designed to be very difficult to forge.

To protect privacy, verification codes are generated entirely in the student's web browser and are never stored on our servers. When a teacher checks a code, the original report is recreated locally in the browser—it is not retrieved from our servers.

To further protect privacy, we recommend that students sign reports using their initials or another unique identifier (like an organization id number) instead of their full name.

For iPhone users: Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is set to Ring (not Silent) before starting the exercise.
